A Sacred Abode of

Lord Shiva

Baba Baidyanath Dham, located in Deoghar, Jharkhand, is one of the twelve revered Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. The temple is also known as Baidyanath Jyotirlinga, where Lord Shiva is worshipped as the divine healer (Vaidya).

According to sacred legend, Ravana offered his ten heads in sacrifice to Lord Shiva here. Pleased with his devotion, Shiva descended as a Jyotirlinga and healed Ravana’s wounds, earning the name Baidyanath — the Lord of Physicians.
